Where children grow in competence, creativity, and character

Thank you for your interest in St. Andrew's Preschool. We are a family-friendly program founded on the belief that young children learn best in a small, flexible, unhurried environment which allows time to discover themselves as individuals, friends, and learners.

St. Andrew's provides classes for children ages 2-6 which include experiences in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, creative arts, self-expression, music, dramatic play, cooking, language, and creative thinking skills, as well as in math and science.

The school also offers extended day options and flexible childcare to meet the needs of you and your child. We welcome students regardless of race, religion, national or ethnic background, or special need.

Parent Involvement

Parents are invited to attend several gatherings, including a special Halloween Parade, Christmas Party, Mother's Day Tea, and closing ceremonies. In addition, we often have opportunities for parents to chaperone field trips and we encourage parents to volunteer their time and talents in the classroom as they feel comfortable. Our Programs

Two-year-olds Frolicking, socializing and, of course, learning; the two-year-olds' program is all about preparing children for a fun and exciting learning experience. Students are introduced to sharing, cooperating, problem solving, dancing, coloring, counting, cutting, and pasting. Your children will be nurtured by our warm and caring instructors providing important support throughout the school year.

Three-year-olds Our three-year-olds' program focuses on providing young children with an opportunity to socialize with their peers, to grow confident while away from home, and to learn through self-directed play and teacher-directed activities. Our day also includes an art project for creative exploration and circle time activities such as a daily story, songs, and outdoor play.

Four-year-olds Our four-year-olds' program is more academically oriented than the three-year-olds' class, helping to prepare the children for their kindergarten experience. Like the three-year-olds, the four-year-olds' program is thematically based while still allowing for flexibility in classroom activities. The day begins with a variety of interest areas open for exploration and the opportunity to participate in a daily art project. Circle time includes sharing, stories, information, music and movement, weather, and calendar. Following snacks there is a teacher-directed activity or game before the class finishes the day with outdoor play.

Pre-K/Kindergarten Our Pre-K/Kindergarten program is designed to enrich the day for existing afternoon kindergartners or provides an extra year of growth for those looking forward to kindergarten the following year. Our morning provides a balance of independent, small group, and whole group instruction. Our dynamic curriculum parallels and enhances the Madison Public School's kindergarten program. It is tailored to meet the needs of each child in a stimulating and nurturing environment. Kindergartners are transported by school bus from St. Andrew's to Jeffrey Elementary School for afternoon kindergarten. Link to Schoolnotes for news about Mrs. Shari's class activities.
