Louise Kalemkerian – Interim Rector   [back to top]

Rev. Louise Kalemkerian, our Interim Rector, comes to us from St. Paul's in Norwalk, CT. For the past four years, she also has served as the Director of HIV Programs at St. Luke's LifeWorks, in Stamford. She previously held interim rector positions in the Diocese of Newark and came to Connecticut in 1999 as rector of Emmanuel Church in Stamford.

Born and raised in Detroit, she was brought up in the Armenian Orthodox Church. During her late teens, Louise felt a call to serve God but no official role for women existed at that time. She received degrees from Wayne State University and taught junior high school in Detroit. Louise then attended Seabury-Western Episcopal Seminary for a degree in Christian Education and led programs for the Armenian Church. In 1991, Louise left to test her vocation in the Episcopal Church. She was ordained into the priesthood in 1995.

Married to Joseph Kalemkerian, she is the mother of "two wonderful daughters." Hobbies include reading, music, and baking pies.
