St. Andrew's is the Place for Teens...

St. Andrew's Youth Groups

We enjoy hanging out together as we do community service projects, learn about Christian spirituality, and get to know each other better. Our group is a wonderful way for teens at St. Andrew's to get together with others their age in a safe and fun environment. It's also a great place to continue growing in faith, and to explore our own questions about God and the church. (No question is "dumb" here, and all challenges to faith are met and welcomed.)

Some of the things we enjoyed together last year include going to a movie, cooking dinner for the residents at Ronald McDonald House followed by a trip to Pepe's Pizza, Christmas caroling at a nursing home, having a visit from two therapy dogs who visit the elderly, duckpin bowling, making a set of Stations of the Cross, and just spending time together playing games or hanging out. Young and older teens, come and join us!

The Middle School Youth Group is for teens or tweens in the sixth and seventh grades. The High School Youth Group includes teens in grades 8 through 12. The groups meet at the same time but split for various activities. The Youth Groups usually meet every other Sunday afternoon during the school year. Please call the church office at 203-245-2584 for more information.

Christian Education for Teens

  • For youth in grades 6 and 7 we offer the "Rite 13" section of the Journey to Adulthood curriculum, currently the most popular curriculum in use in the Episcopal Church. This program seeks to empower teens to make good decisions for themselves and to think through questions of faith clearly. It also encourages them to form a close community among themselves, while modeling Christian love. Classes meet after the 9:15 Sunday service, from about 10:10 until 11:00, in the rectory, the blue house across the parking lot from the church. Refreshments will be provided each week in the rectory.

  • For youth in grades 8 and 9 we offer the "J2A" section of the Journey to Adulthood curriculum. J2A continues the community building begun in Rite 13 and further develops teens' abilities to make good choices in line with the teachings of Jesus. The topics of Society, Self, Spirituality, and Sexuality are covered over the two years. J2A may lead to Confirmation, if that is the choice of the teen. J2A meets in Room 1 of the classroom wing from 10:10 until 11:00 each Sunday.
